Abstract
The article describes K. D. Ushynskyi’s pedagogical ideas on the role and importance of family upbringing and its influence on personality development. Family upbringing and personality development play an important role in modern society. The main task of the family education is to prepare children to live in the modern world, and to develop true citizens of a society. The article also analyses K.D. Ushynskyi’s key pedagogical works on family education. It is important to lay the foundation for development and learning in early childhood, and happy childhood definitely has a positive effect on a person's future life. K.D. Ushynskyi considered family education to be the civic duty of every member of society. He claimed that the concept of an educated person consisted of several interacted components, namely: national education, mental education, as well as aesthetic, moral, labor, physical education. The education has to be seen as a single inseparable integrity, in the harmonious interrelation between family and school and their influence on a child
