The flexibility of a higher education teacher as an invariant of professional competence

Abstract

The article, based on the methodological and theoretical analysis of scientific works, reveals the essence and significance of personal flexibility of a higher education teacher as an invariant of his/her professional competence. It is established that personal flexibility of a higher education teacher should be considered as a mental (mental) ability and at the same time a property of cognitive processes, which characterises the ability to rethink the conceptual picture of the world on the basis of new information; the ability to abandon ineffective means of interaction, methods of thinking, ways of behaviour and develop their own, or adopt new, creative approaches to professional activity. The conditions for the formation and development of personal flexibility of a higher education teacher as an indicator of his/her pedagogical professionalism are determined: improvement of professional and pedagogical competence through self-stimulation of systematic scientific and methodological intellectual and search cognitive activity, participation in various forms of professional development, comprehension and use of pedagogical innovations in professional training of specialists; deepening and expanding worldview erudition on the basis of formation of worldview generalisations that form
