The purpose of the study is to analyze the special literature and find out the content of the transversal competencies of students in the master’s programs in physical training and sports required to perform basic professional functions, as well as to identify the tools for their development in the system of higher education. The essence of the concept “transversality” is specified. From a pedagogical point of view we understand this concept as the ability to apply skills acquired through formal, non-formal and informal education, as well as experience in real-life and professional situations, the ability to transfer existing competencies acting in unpredictable situations regardless of professional specialization. A cluster of transversal competencies of students in the master’s programs in physical training and sports has been developed. It contains the following components: functional content of activity of students in the master’s programs in physical training and sports, in particular managerial, organizational, financial and economic, administrative, formative, and methodical; transversal competencies (ethics of business communication and negotiation, sociability, leadership skills, ability to work in an international context, critical and creative thinking, ability to work in a team, time management skills, active listening skills, ability to make responsible and creative decisions, empathy, emotional intelligence, ability to work in a matrix working environment, media literacy, digital literacy) and tolls for their development (mastering the content of the components of the educational program, trainings, seminars, webinars, online courses, refresher courses, study of special literature, etc.). It was found that the development of transversal competencies of students in the master’s programs in physical training and sports is carried out through the formation of general competencies offered by the standard of the specialty and non-formal forms of education. The issue of introducing forms of training that would allow consolidating and improving skills and abilities in the course of professional and practical activities, control over the state of their development, and increase of motivation to informal education remains relevant
